The Opportunity The Engineering Manager will be the primary interface for chemical, cleans and production engineering by providing financial, site service and project related support within the Hillsboro, Oregon plant operations. Your Role & Responsibilities Provide engineering management direction through all project phases, meeting financial objectives and deliverables. Lead a team of engineers in both the clean and production environments to perform root cause analysis and corrective action for customer complaints. Act as key account owner with direct communication with customers. Technical expert and go-to manager when team is designing, executing, or coordinating experiments to help troubleshoot suspect raw material lots or customer concerns. Work on complex issues with engineering team where analysis or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Leads engineering team in troubleshooting and reviewing of non-standard process conditions or batch non-conformances. Assists in process troubleshooting in Production (pump, filter, valve, sensor, cell, and other equipment diagnostics). Provides leadership with engineers in areas of chemical process troubleshooting, trending, and data review, batch or continuous. Familiarity with data analysis and exploration software (JMP, SAS, Minitab, etc). Guides engineering team and helps exercise judgment in selecting functional and analytical methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Manages team to ensure engineering product scale-up, troubleshooting and optimization. Manage cleans and production engineering team in areas of: Employee Performance, Employee Development, Performance Coaching, Feedback, Compliance, Safety, Efficiencies and Lean Operation projects. Manage all hiring and training within department. Looks for ways to elevate the technical and expertise of the team. Mentors and/or coaches less experienced engineering team members. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures to achieve engineering projects, schedules and deadlines while providing daily feedback with team members. Lead efforts in troubleshooting engineering issues related to customer quality problems. Provide formal responses and presentations for customer requests or complaints. Provide leadership, guidance, and problem-solving skills to employees either within the department or through project/process coordination. Support development and management of site operating budget. Track and report ongoing department expenditures versus the budget and/or projections. Evaluates talent of team and drives actions to address performance development and/or concerns. Promotes a safe and environmentally responsible work environment by establishing policies and procedures for a safe and compliant operation. About You 10 Years experience with chemical processing equipment, including pumps, vessels and filters Minimum 8 years supervisory/management experience. Experience in chemical purification (metals, organic impurities) evaluation, purification facility developing. Experience with ion exchange chromatography (IEX) systems, and ultrapure water (UPW) systems is a plus. Knowledge of chemical process engineering principles, process engineering design, with semiconductor, chemical, industrial, or related industries. Proven experience in application of LEAN principles. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results. Multi-tasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in a timely manner. Strong organizational, planning and follow-up skills and ability to hold other accountable. Analytical skills related to chemical processes and data. Experience with statistical process control and design of experiments. Proven strong time management and organization skills required. Demonstrated experience with effective communication and people skills. Knowledge of industry best practices and trends in engineering management.
